We all knew it was coming, but it definitely looks awesome. A lot of blowing up on this game, and it’ll probably start with Modern Warfare 3′s sales records.

Well, it was previously thought to be set for tomorrow, June 3rd, but Sony pulled a fast one on us and got it up early this morning. They’re saying that there will be another update tomorrow and the Customer Appreciation package is not available yet (they said they’re doing additional testing on that), but there is a lot of backed-up content that is now available for downloading.
But don’t take my word for it. Let’s hear it from them…

Happy gaming, PS3 owners!

Yesterday, Sony finally felt that PSN was ready to be turned back on and initiated a restart internationally. The button was pressed, and people are trickling back online on the Playstation Network. For the moment, not everyone is able to get back on due to delays in certain areas, but for the most part, it’s all green lights. Unless, of course, you live in Japan. Many people may remember when Xbox Live went down during the holiday season. It was down two weeks, primarily because the influx of new users was too much for Microsoft’s servers at the time. It’s good for historical comparison, though it was very different from the problems PSN is currently facing.
It’s been almost an entire month since PSN was taken down, following its being hacked (supposed by the group Anonymous). There has been a lot of back and forth with this issue, and a bit of drama, but it’s good to finally see it getting slowly resolved. April 20th was the day PSN was initially taken down, and that was a long time ago – I’m fairly certain that millions of dollars have been lost, for both Sony and developers. I’m sure even more money will have to be sacrificed to fund the Welcome Back program that they’re running as an apology.
Speaking of that program, here’s what they’re offering:
Based on what Sony is saying, PS3 and PSP owners are able to choose two of the titles from each platform you own, for free. Once the Playstation Store comes back online, they will be available to everyone to choose from for 30 days for download at no cost. The games you choose will be yours forever.
Aside from the free games, current Playstation Plus subscribers are getting an additional 60 days of free use of the service added on to their remaining time. But no gamer will be left behind, as even those who are NOT PSN+ users will still get a free 30 days. Think of it as an extended trial. There are a few other various parts, but the icing on the cake is the 100 free virtual items for Playstation Home. Not sure how many people really use it, but hey, it’s free.
This is definitely a fairly strong gesture from Sony, but with the severity of the situation, it was undoubtedly called for. The Playstation Store isn’t back up yet (at the time of writing), but be sure to check it out and claim your free stuff when you can.
Right now, if you still don’t have Portal 2 or Mortal Kombat, you’ve been missing out – they’re two of the best games to come out this year. If you’re not sure if you’ll like them, I highly recommend that you try out the demos.
But for most of us, I’m fairly certain we’ll like at least one of the two. And for these people, today is your lucky day. As of right now, both of these great games are on sale! I just bought Portal 2 yesterday at this highly discounted price and I can’t wait to play it. The deals are below – I’ve linked you to them. Don’t hesitate – these deals won’t last forever, you know.
Right now, Portal 2 can be had for $35, BRAND NEW from Amazon (360 | PS3
).
If you prefer GameStop, they’ve got it on sale, too. $40 for it new (360 | PS3
).
If you don’t mind used from GameStop, then it’s the same $35 there, too (360 | PS3
). As always, you can avoid shipping charges (and as a result, waiting) by choosing the PickUp@Store option at GameStop. It works for both new or used, and let’s you pay and then go pick it up later. Lovely.
If it’s the fighting and gore you want, then the new Mortal Kombat is available on Amazon (360 | PS3
) for the low price of $40.
Oh, and you have a free shipping option here, too, if you can wait 5 days for it.
I’ve already bought Portal 2 myself. Great deal and if you’re interested, don’t hesitate or you’ll miss out!
EDIT: The Amazon sales are no longer available. Portal 2 is now $40 on both consoles via Amazon. Still a very good deal. Mortal Kombat is now $50. Th Gamestop sale is still available at this time.

It’s about damn time.
If the current rumors are true, then soon the Wii is going to receive a price cut by $50 to drop it down to $150. After storming out the gates the first year or two, Nintendo’s console sales have lagged notably while the 360 and PS3 continued to pick up steam. I think either the novelty finally wore off, the shovelware games got to people, or maybe they literally sold one to almost everyone interested (they sold A LOT of these things to start). It’s a smart move, because now the console will fall into “impulse buy” territory.
Considering I don’t have one anymore (long story), my impulses are pretty strong right now.
