Can having too many games be a good problem to have?

The other day, I was watching the NBA Playoffs on TV – nothing unusual for me. I’m an avid basketball fan, so I watch every game. Then halftime came. I searched the internet, doing my usual rounds, and happened to run across an article that caught my attention. H21 of ingamingwetrust.com posted an article about having unfinished games. It was a short and sweet article, but he states that it might be a good problem to have, but that was a spin on it that I didn’t expect.

I agree, but also respectfully disagree. I know what you’re thinking – how can I do both?

Well, I agree in the fact that I know where he’s coming from. Aside from the kids, I have several of the same issues H21 pointed out. Life happens: work, school, significant others, pets, friends, and so on. I’m fortunate enough to have a girlfriend who is an avid gamer herself. That fact alone, though, isn’t enough to make more time in the day for games.

No, my big issue is that my backlog is significantly larger. H21 mentions a 6 game backlog. Mine is 160 games deep.

And that's not all of them.

My backlog was created by two facts.
1. My inability to stop buying them when I see a good deal
2. My lack of time to complete them

This is where my disagreement falls. With everything life throws at me, it’s not a good problem for me. The sheer quantity can be paralyzing. It’s not helped by the fact that I play almost everything – I don’t just stick to AAA games. I play sports, movie games, and games that are largely mediocre, too. I plan on completing all the games I own, but I definitely have my work cut out for me. I suppose I’d rather have too much than not enough.

I guess it could be a good problem to have, afterall.
